During the 1957 season, Baker made 40 starts and led all drivers with ten wins and poles. He went on to take the championship title that year, becoming the first driver to win back-to-back NASCAR Championships.
The 1957 Chevy also won 26 NASCAR "convertible races," which was more wins than any other make.
The dominance of the 1957 Chevrolet prompted NASCAR's ban on fuel-injected cars. In April of 1957, NASCAR rewrote the rules to establish a four-barrel carburetor-only rule. The fuel-injection ban would last until the Generation-Six cars of 2012THIS CAR WAS PROFESSIONALLY RESTORED TO BE JUST LIKE THEY WERE COMING OFF THE ASSEMBLY LINE. SEVERAL "1957 EXPERTS" WERE INVOLVED IN SUPPLYING HARD TO FIND INFORMATION TO DO JUST THAT. ONE OF THE EXPERTS EVEN SUPPLIED THE CAR! WAS COMPLETED ABOUT 10 YEARS AGO AND HAS BEEN KEPT IN A COLLECTION EVER SINCE. ONLY ABOUT 40 MILES SINCE THE TOTAL FRAME OFF RESTORATION. CAR HAS JUST BEEN SERVICED AND IS READY TO ROCK AND ROLL RIGHT INTO YOUR HEART.
