Here at Cooper Classics we are always looking for vehicles that tell their own story, and this 911SC Targa is no exception. To begin, this car was unusually optioned, not coming with a passenger side mirror or fog lamps, but equipped with factory ac, blaupunkt cassette radio, chrome delete, and full brown leather interior, which complements the Talbot yellow exterior incredibly well. Yet how the car was originally equipped pales in comparison to the comprehensive upgrades done to the vehicle, starting with the motor. The original engine received a complete rebuild and upgrade to 3.2L specs, including uprated oil pump, cams, turbo valve covers and carrera tensioners. This was all topped off with a PMO carburetor conversion and Electromotive CDI distributorless ignition system, along with SSI heat exchangers. It is tuned to start effortlessly and its powerband is needless to say, quite wider than a stock SC. The suspension in the meantime, has also been completely refurbished, now featuring multiple uprated parts, including, stressbars, hollow torsion bars, bronze end bushings, adjustable spring plates, Bilstein shocks, and Tarrett Swaybars. All of the upgrades are not related to just performance however, as the factory air conditioning system has also been upgraded to actually be effective in the summer months, unlike the original setup. The combination of these suspension and powertrain upgrades were carefully chosen and lead to a vehicle which is docile and comfortable to cruise in, but extremely enjoyable when the roads get challenging. Having been Enthusiast owned over the 4 decades since it has been produced has led to a car that has not only been a Porsche club of America concours winner, but an SCCA class winner as well, with the documentation over the years to back it up. This vehicle includes its original spare, jack, stock steering wheel, as well as original sales documents, all manuals, toolkit, service history, and car cover.
